I would like to share some information with you regarding an incident at school this morning. There was a natural gas smell in one contained area of the school when we arrived. We notified the emergency personnel through the Waterloo Region District School Board. In the interest of student and staff safety, we evacuated the building.
The fire department and union gas workers checked the building. Once it was evident that there were no issues with the gas and that levels were not elevated in the school, we were given the all clear to return to the building.
I would like to congratulate the staff and students on the manner in which they responded this morning. It was great to see our school community work together quickly and efficiently. A letter is being sent home with all students today.
