It was 50 years ago, on February 6, 1967 that students first attended Wellesley P.S. at the current location. Staff and students will be celebrating this milestone on Monday February 6, 2017. There will be music from the 60’s, visits by Eddie the Eagle, the Mayor of Wellesley and the Director of Education, balloons, and a special birthday treat for all staff and students. Students and staff are encouraged to wear clothing that represents the school colours – red, black, purple and gold. The last 2 colours were used when the school first opened.
Students will meet their teachers at their regular entrances at 8:55. Teachers and students will then walk to the front of the school and enter through the main entrance, where they will be greeted by a host of dignitaries.
Part of our festivities on Monday will include the opening of the time capsule. We have received many interesting guesses from staff, students, and community members as to what will be inside the capsule. These guesses include: old yearbooks, photos, staff lists, trophies, newspapers, curriculum guides, and the list goes on. We will be placing the items in the glass trophy class near the gym for students to view.

…and just a reminder that our official celebration of the 50th Anniversary will take place on Saturday April 22, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at the school. Please save this date. We look forward to you joining us!
